Bio
Recruited from the Wattle Glen zone after attending Melbourne High School, Jack Pimm is remembered as a talented centre half-forward whose prime years were sacrificed for distinguished service in World War II. After a brief debut season in 1940, Pimm enlisted and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, eventually earning a Military Cross for gallantry during the Bougainville campaign. He returned to Victoria Park in 1946 carrying shrapnel injuries and suffering from malaria, yet managed to re-establish himself as a high-marking target in the Magpies' attack. Despite the physical toll of his service, Pimm topped Collingwood’s goalkicking in 1949, leaving a legacy defined not by his modest 58-game tally, but by the resilience of a war hero who overcame significant health battles to compete at the highest level.
