Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 29 in the 2010 National Draft, Scott Lycett spent his early years at West Coast developing his craft behind club legends Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui. While he often operated as a forward-ruck option during the Eagles' contending years, his time in the west reached its zenith in the 2018 season. Following a season-ending injury to Naitanui, Lycett shouldered the primary ruck responsibilities alongside Nathan Vardy, playing a pivotal role in West Coast's premiership victory over Collingwood. Almost immediately after the flag, he exercised his rights as a restricted free agent to return to his home state, signing a long-term deal with Port Adelaide.
Upon joining the Power, Lycett assumed the mantle of the club's first-choice ruckman, bringing a hardened, physical edge to the midfield group. Known for his aggression at the contest and capacity to drift forward to hit the scoreboard, he was a central figure in Port Adelaide's push to consecutive preliminary finals in 2020 and 2021. However, his tenure at Alberton was eventually hampered by medical setbacks, with shoulder infections and knee injuries significantly limiting his continuity and output in his final campaigns. After 146 AFL games split between the two clubs, Lycett announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
