Stats
Bio
A product of the Brisbane Lions Academy, Matthew Hammelmann joined the senior list via the 2015 Rookie Draft. Standing 197cm, he was a versatile key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground, though he was frequently deployed as a key defender during his brief AFL career to utilise his intercept marking abilities. Despite showing promise in the reserves, he struggled to command a regular spot in the senior side, managing just 12 games across three seasons before being delisted at the conclusion of 2017. Following his departure from the AFL, Hammelmann established himself as a dominant forward in state league football, becoming a prolific goalkicker and multiple leading goalkicker award winner in the NEAFL and VFL with Redland and Aspley.
