Bio
A mature-age recruit who arrived at Collingwood with significant pedigree as a Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal winner in the VFL, Charlie Dean’s time in the AFL was defined by his resilience against persistent injury setbacks. Drafted from Williamstown as a tall intercepting defender capable of reading the play well, his transition to the senior side was cruelly stalled by recurring foot fractures that completely wiped out his first two seasons at the club. After more than 800 days on the list, Dean finally earned his long-awaited debut in the opening round of 2024, stepping in to cover defensive absences. He played 12 games across his final two years, serving as a depth key defender who battled manfully when called upon, before being delisted by the Magpies at the end of the 2025 season.
