Bio
Jake Florenca's brief AFL career stands as a notable chapter in West Coast's tumultuous 2022 campaign, where he was recruited as a top-up player while the club faced an unprecedented injury and COVID-19 availability crisis. A decorated midfielder for South Fremantle in the WAFL who had previously overcome a ruptured Achilles tendon, Florenca was called up to make his debut against the Brisbane Lions in Round 8. He immediately translated his reputation as a contested ball-winner to the top level, recording 19 disposals and four clearances in a tough, high-pressure display that impressed onlookers. However, his opportunity was cruelly cut short when he suffered a severe hamstring injury late in the game, and despite proving he could match the intensity of AFL football, he was not offered a permanent list spot, returning to the WAFL as one of the state league's premier on-ballers.
