Bio
Recruited from the Western Jets where he served as captain, Lucca Grego is a tough utility who arrived at West Coast with pick 48 in the 2024 National Draft. Hailing from Bacchus Marsh but originally raised in a rugby league environment—his father was a development coach with the Melbourne Storm—he brought a unique physical edge to his football, renowned for his "hard-nosed" tackling pressure and one-on-one strength. Grego spent the vast majority of his 2025 debut campaign developing in the WAFL, where he impressed coaching staff with his consistency across half-back and the midfield. His perseverance was rewarded with a senior debut in the final round of the season against Sydney, ensuring he joined the rest of his draft class in tasting AFL action that year. With a contract extension secured through to 2027, Grego is viewed as a resilient, long-term defensive prospect for the Eagles.
