Lachlan Hicks

Lachlan Hicks has come through the Western Jets and Altona community club as a highly productive prospect at Coates Talent League level. A Vic Metro representative who previously won the state's most valuable player award at the Under 16 National Championships, the hard-working utility put together a strong draft year. He claimed Talent League Player of the Week honours in round 14 following a standout performance where he found plenty of the ball and hit the scoreboard heavily. Hicks capped off his season with a superb showing at the national draft combine, topping the agility test and placing second in the 2km time trial to underline an impressive blend of speed and endurance.

Operating as a tough and assertive midfielder who can push into a general forward role, Hicks brings high intensity and constant effort to every contest. He is capable on the inside and outside, using his running power to link plays across the ground and provide a marking target in attack. While scouts note his kicking and disposal can sometimes be inconsistent under pressure, his relentless application and ability to win the football are highly valued. Clubs view the 183cm prospect as a player who could land anywhere from the fringes of the first round to the mid-to-late stages of the national draft.
