Bio
Albert Macgowan emerged as one of the standout endurance athletes of the 2026 draft class following a stellar season for the Sandringham Dragons and Victoria Metro. Hailing from Brighton Beach, the hard-working inside midfielder earned selection on the wing in the Talent League Team of the Year. He showcased his big-game temperament during the finals, most notably kicking a perfectly struck goal after the siren from outside 50 to defeat the Northern Knights. Macgowan capped his impressive year by dominating the National Draft Combine, where he was the only prospect to break the six-minute barrier in the 2km time trial.
Known for his gut-running and ability to repeatedly get to contests, Macgowan thrives in post-clearance situations where he uses his composure in traffic to link up play. Scouts praise his aerial power, defensive pressure and punchy kicking. However, detractors have questioned whether he possesses the necessary foot speed for the modern game and suggest he needs to become more damaging with his disposals. Despite these queries, his elite aerobic capacity and consistent output have seen him rise up draft boards, with many experts rating him as a potential top-30 pick in November.
