Bio
Jake Callinan is a versatile mid-forward who developed his football through Surfers Paradise before making his mark in the Gold Coast Suns Academy. Earning a call-up to represent the Allies at the National Championships, he quickly proved his worth by hitting the scoreboard in solid outings against Victoria Metro and Western Australia. Callinan's consistent draft-year form was rewarded with senior opportunities, breaking into Gold Coast's VFL side alongside standout performances in the Talent League, which included a best-on-ground display in a win over the Giants Academy.
Callinan offers valuable flexibility as a general forward who can shift into the midfield with poise. Scouts highlight his leading patterns, strong hands overhead, and ability to create scoring chances in the forward half. When playing on the ball, he showcases strong intent and a willingness to apply intense tackling pressure. While he is already physically prepared and highly competitive, observers note that improving his goalkicking accuracy will help round out his game. Callinan is tied to the Gold Coast Suns as an academy prospect, and the club is widely expected to match any rival bids to secure his services in the national draft.
