Bio
Heath Mellody has established himself as a top prospect in this year's draft pool, widely rated as a top-10 chance and a potential pick one contender. The son of former East Fremantle state league player Martin Mellody, the Claremont product produced a strong draft year. He represented Western Australia at the National Championships, where he won the Larke Medal as the best player of the carnival and was named captain of the Under-18 All-Australian team. Following the championships, Mellody transitioned to senior football, making his league debut for Claremont late in the WAFL season and playing a key role in their finals campaign.
The versatile midfielder and half-back relies on his speed and dual-footed kicking. He is known for his ability to break lines with his run and carry, showing strong decision making and football IQ. While scouts previously noted his slighter frame, Mellody has proven his competitiveness by developing his contested game and tackling pressure against mature bodies at senior level. His consistent form resulted in an invitation to the national draft combine.
