Bio
Gus Teixeira is an explosive midfielder and forward from the Sandringham Dragons and East Malvern Junior Football Club who has surged into calculations as one of the best players in the open draft pool. St Kilda attempted to add him to their Next Generation Academy due to his Brazilian heritage, but the AFL denied the request. Representing Vic Metro at the Under-18 National Championships, Teixeira claimed a share of the team MVP award. He delivered a standout performance in a dominant win over the Allies, showcasing his ability to dictate terms despite managing a calf injury that later sidelined him from Talent League action.
Described by recruiters as a prototype modern midfielder, Teixeira combines power, speed and excellent foot skills. He is a dangerous burst player who can break lines on the outside while remaining tough enough to win contested ball. His forward craft is equally impressive, allowing him to push into attack and regularly hit the scoreboard. While his game-to-game consistency was an early query, his class and poise have answered those doubts. Teixeira is now widely rated as a top-five prospect, with some viewing him as the premier talent in his draft class.
