Bio
Jacob McNicol is a clever outside midfielder and high half forward who emerged from Goodwood to star for Glenelg in the SANFL Under 18 competition. Representing South Australia at the 2026 National Championships, the prolific ball winner demonstrated his ability to impact games in transition and push forward to hit the scoreboard. He enjoyed a stellar draft year for the Bays, finishing as joint runner-up for the McCallum Tomkins Medal as the league's best and fairest player. He capped off the season by winning the Alan Stewart Medal as best afield in Glenelg's AAMI Talent League premiership victory.
A smart runner with a relentless work rate and high football IQ, McNicol excels at reading the play and finding pockets of space to involve himself in scoring chains. He possesses a fluid left foot that can deliver damaging setup kicks inside 50, although scouts note his disposal can sometimes be untidy and requires more consistency. While he relies heavily on his spatial awareness and endurance, evaluators point out that he lacks the elite speed to break games open. Following his dominant season, McNicol earned an invitation to the state draft combine.
