Bio
Bailee Martin is widely considered the favourite to be taken with the first overall pick in the 2026 AFLW Draft. A prolific forward, she began her journey with the East Malvern Knights before starring for the Oakleigh Chargers and Vic Metro. She also earned a spot in the National Academy. Football runs in the family, as her father Ashleigh spent time in North Melbourne's reserves. Had he played a single senior game, Martin would have been eligible to join the Kangaroos under father-daughter rules.
Despite a stop-start top-age campaign interrupted by minor injuries and illness, Martin's form was undeniable. She earned back-to-back All-Australian honours and finished as the leading goalkicker at the National Championships, highlighted by a dominant performance against Vic Country. Praised for her outstanding football IQ, clean kicking and ability to read the play, she is a natural goalkicking machine who constantly threatens inside the forward arc. While scouts note she is working to build her endurance and tackle pressure, her pure class and scoreboard impact make her the consensus top prospect in her draft class.
