Bio
Recruited from local side Wellington, Ike Woods established himself as a potent scoring threat for Geelong during the early 1900s despite his diminutive stature. Operating as a small full-forward, Woods was renowned for his accuracy in front of goal and his ability to convert place kicks from outside 50. He quickly became the club’s focal point in attack, topping Geelong’s goalkicking for four consecutive seasons between 1902 and 1905. His most prolific campaign came in 1903, where he booted 34 goals and narrowly missed out on the VFL Leading Goalkicker award by a single major. Despite his on-field consistency, Woods' time at Corio Oval ended abruptly in 1906 when he was omitted from the side for "inattention to practice," eventually departing the league to join VFA club Prahran the following year.
