Bio
Standing at just 170cm, Ian Nankervis was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who arrived at Princes Park from Mount Eliza. He showed immediate promise as a goal-sneaking small, maintaining a healthy strike rate of nearly a goal a game, but found it difficult to lock down a permanent position as the club underwent a ruthlessly professional transformation under Ron Barassi. After three seasons with the Blues, he transferred to the VFA where his career took a dramatic turn at Williamstown. While he successfully claimed the 1968 Field Medal as the Division 2 Best and Fairest, his tenure at the Seagulls ended in controversy when he was sensationally dropped from the Grand Final side following a dispute over match payments, prompting a final move to Dandenong.
