Bio
Recruited from the industrial league side Laygols, Albert Arthur "Titch" Edwards was a diminutive rover whose VFL career was defined by persistence rather than stardom. Standing just 168cm, he found it difficult to command a regular place in the Fitzroy side, with his most consistent run of form coming during the 1938 season. His playing tenure was heavily impacted by the Second World War, which saw him miss three full seasons between 1940 and 1944 before returning for a final brief stint. Edwards later achieved a quirky slice of football immortality as a member of the club's coaching staff; deputising for an ill Len Smith in Round 13, 1961, he guided Fitzroy to a victory over Carlton, finishing his caretaker tenure with a perfect 100 per cent coaching record.
