Bio
Born in South Yarra, Jack Smith began his VFL career with St Kilda in 1930 but struggled to cement a regular senior spot, managing just nine appearances over two seasons. Seeking greater opportunity, he crossed to North Melbourne in 1932, where he immediately found his footing as a consistent contributor for the Shinboners. A wingman who could drift forward and hit the scoreboard, Smith became a fixture in the North Melbourne lineup during a difficult era for the club, playing 62 games over six seasons. He concluded his playing days in South Australia, representing West Torrens and Norwood in the SANFL before later serving as a league goal umpire.
