Bio
A decorated champion of the WAFL, Aaron Black's long-awaited AFL debut arrived under extraordinary circumstances during the COVID-impacted 2022 season. Having established himself as a premier midfielder and premiership captain with West Perth, winning the 2014 Sandover Medal, Black was bypassed in numerous drafts before being recruited by West Coast as a top-up player when the club was decimated by health and safety protocols. Selected for the Round 2 clash against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium, the 29-year-old adapted quickly to the pace of the top level, capping his solitary appearance with a goal. While his AFL career was limited to that single cameo, Black returned to state level football having finally earned his stripe at the elite level, reinforcing his standing as one of the most respected figures in West Australian football.
