Bio
Recruited from Hobart in the Tasmanian State League, Aaron Hall entered the AFL system as a mature-age prospect via the 2012 Pre-Season Draft. He initially made his mark at the Gold Coast Suns as a lightning-quick small forward with a sharp eye for goal, before transitioning into a prolific ball-winning midfielder. Hall’s greatest asset was his explosive pace and ability to break lines, which saw him enjoy a purple patch of form in 2016 where he polled significant Brownlow votes. Despite his offensive weapons, he fell out of favour at the Suns and requested a trade to North Melbourne at the end of 2018 in search of a fresh start.
At North Melbourne, Hall revitalised his career by reinventing himself as a rebounding defender. His elite kicking skills and willingness to take the game on saw him become one of the league's most dominant players for metres gained, regularly racking up high disposal counts and launching attacks from the back half. Although his defensive accountability was occasionally scrutinised, his capacity to act as a quarterback for the Kangaroos provided a crucial point of difference during a rebuilding phase for the club. He retired in 2023 as a veteran mentor who had successfully carved out a niche as one of the game's most damaging outside runners.
