Bio
Recruited from Osborne via the NSW/ACT Rams, Adam Schneider proved to be a significant bargain for the Sydney Swans after sliding to pick 60 in the 2001 National Draft. A crafty left-footed small forward known for his clinical finishing and ability to find space in heavy traffic, he became an integral member of the Swans' lineup under Paul Roos. Schneider tasted the ultimate success early in his career, featuring in the 2005 Premiership side and the 2006 Grand Final, establishing a reputation as a player who could stand up in big moments despite his lack of blistering pace.
At the end of 2007, salary cap pressures at Sydney forced a trade to St Kilda, where he moved alongside teammate Sean Dempster to rejoin former assistant coach Ross Lyon. Schneider seamlessly transitioned into the Saints' forward line, becoming a crucial link man and goal scorer during the club's dominant 2009-2010 period, playing in a further three Grand Finals including the famous draw. Although soft tissue injuries frustrated his final few seasons, he remained a clever user of the ball until his retirement in 2015, concluding his career as one of the few players to contest five Grand Finals in the modern era without being a marquee superstar.
