Bio
Adam Tomlinson began his AFL journey as a foundational pillar for Greater Western Sydney, selected with pick No. 9 in the 2011 National Draft. Standing 194cm, he was a unique athletic profile for the Giants, possessing elite endurance that saw him dominate club time trials and play as a running winger just as effectively as he did in key posts. He became the ultimate utility during the Giants' formative years, filling gaps forward, back, and through the midfield. His consistency was rewarded with selection in the Giants' maiden Grand Final side in 2019, where his running capacity was deployed to cover the MCG's wide spaces.
At the end of 2019, Tomlinson exercised his free agency rights to join Melbourne, seeking a permanent home in defence. His time with the Demons was defined by a cruel stroke of misfortune; after establishing himself as a key interceptor in early 2021, he ruptured his ACL in Round 7, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as the club broke its 57-year premiership drought. Upon his return, he found himself stuck behind the entrenched defensive duo of Steven May and Jake Lever, often performing strongly in the VFL but unable to seize a regular senior spot. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season, remembered as a professional clubman who was incredibly unlucky with injury timing.
