Bio
Recruited from Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula with pick 51 in the 1988 National Draft, Adrian Burns was a lightly-built rover and small forward who struggled to cement a regular spot during a powerhouse era for Essendon. He is perhaps best remembered by Bombers fans for his cameo in the 1990 pre-season, where he booted two goals in the Foster’s Cup Grand Final victory over North Melbourne. Burns managed seven senior games that year, including the Semi Final against Collingwood, where an accidental collision left Magpie Alan Richardson with a broken collarbone—heartbreakingly costing the latter a premiership medallion. Despite this promising start, Burns found himself starved of opportunity as the famous "Baby Bombers" midfield of Wanganeen, Mercuri, and Misiti emerged, and he did not play a senior game in 1992 or 1993. Handed a lifeline by St Kilda in the 1994 Pre-Season Draft, he added just four more games to his tally as a Saint before departing the top level.
