Recruited from Wodonga with pick 49 in the 1993 National Draft, Adrian Whitehead quickly established himself as a silky wingman capable of breaking lines with his pace and delivery. He became an integral part of Carlton's juggernaut 1995 side, playing every game that season and winning a premiership medallion just weeks after turning 20. Despite this rapid ascent, Whitehead's career was cruelly derailed by a chronic foot injury that restricted his output in subsequent years and forced him to miss the entire 1998 season. Unable to overcome the persistent issue, he retired in 1999 at just 24 years of age, remembered as a talented premiership player whose potential was ultimately curtailed by injury.
