Bio
A mature-age recruit who took the long road to the elite level, Aidan Johnson was drafted by Melbourne with pick 68 in the 2024 National Draft after a premiership-winning stint with Werribee in the VFL. Originally from Lavington in the Ovens & Murray League, the key forward transformed his prospects by shedding 13kg and showcasing his versatility as a ruck-forward option. He was thrust immediately into the spotlight, making his AFL debut in Round 1, 2025, where he was tasked with providing an aggressive contest and supporting Max Gawn in the ruck. Johnson played five games in his maiden campaign, booting three goals, but his run in the senior side was halted by a mid-year suspension for a dangerous tackle, seeing him finish the season in the VFL. Entering 2026, he remains a physical depth option for the Demons' tall stocks.
