Stats
Bio
Originally from Black Rock, Alan Krause was a strongly built recruit from VFA club Sandringham who arrived at Melbourne in 1951. Standing 188cm and weighing nearly 100kg, he offered a significant physical presence and enjoyed his best campaign in 1952 before a persistent ankle injury hampered his progress at the top level. After managing 12 games and eight goals, he moved on to represent Prahran and later returned to the Zebras in the VFA. Krause holds a unique place in Demons history as the last player to wear the number 13 guernsey before club secretary Jim Cardwell banned the number for more than two decades due to superstition.
