Bio
Born in Colac, Alan Lavery was a diminutive forward who arrived at Geelong as a mature-age recruit, making his VFL debut at 28 years of age. Standing just 170cm, he played six senior games across the 1932 and 1933 seasons but struggled to replicate his local form at the highest level, departing the league without registering a goal. His brief VFL career belied a lethal scoring ability in the lower grades, famously demonstrated in 1935 when he lined up for Geelong West in the Geelong District Football League and booted a staggering 23 goals in a single match against Barwon.
