Stats
Bio
Recruited from VFA powerhouse Geelong West after a premiership campaign, Alan Lynch was a lightly-built but exceptionally pacy rover who initially followed his coach Bill Goggin to Footscray for the 1976 season. His stint at the Western Oval was brief, as he executed a sudden mid-season transfer to Richmond just prior to the clearance deadline, debuting for the Tigers the very next day. While a shin injury restricted him to just two senior appearances in yellow and black, Lynch’s elite running capacity—which later saw him become a legend of the Stawell Gift—made him a standout performer at the club. He cemented his legacy at Punt Road by starring in the 1977 Reserves premiership, where he booted two goals to help defeat his former side before departing to captain-coach in country Victoria.
