Bio
Born into Geelong royalty as the son of club great Harry "Nipper" Marsham, Alan Marsham cut a distinct figure on the field, standing significantly taller than his famous roving father. A Geelong College product, he arrived at Kardinia Park as a promising key position prospect in 1939, but the turmoil of the Second World War severely curtailed his momentum. Marsham transferred to Williamstown in the VFA for the 1941 season shortly before Geelong temporarily withdrew from the league due to wartime travel restrictions, leaving him with limited opportunities at the top level during his prime years. He returned to the Hoops in 1945 to provide a senior body during the club's difficult post-war re-entry, playing the majority of his career games in that comeback season before finishing his time at the club in 1946.
