Bio
Recruited from Central District, Alan Obst was originally selected by the Adelaide Crows with pick 48 in the 2005 National Draft. The son of former Melbourne player Andrew Obst, he spent two seasons on the Crows' list without breaking into the senior lineup before being delisted and subsequently handed a second chance by North Melbourne in the 2008 Rookie Draft. A tall key defender capable of playing a lockdown role, Obst was elevated to the senior list and made his AFL debut in Round 9, 2008 against West Coast. Despite showing promise with his spoiling and marking ability, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Kangaroos' defence, managing just five senior appearances over three seasons at Arden Street before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
