Bio
Recruited from Mentone, Alan Poore arrived at Collingwood in 1961 but struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup, a task made more difficult by injuries sustained in a car accident in 1962. A talented centreman who could also rotate forward, he managed just 11 games over four seasons at Victoria Park before transferring to Waverley in the VFA, where he immediately transformed into a star of the competition. Poore carved out a significant legacy in the Association, playing in a premiership in his first season and creating history as the first player to win back-to-back J.J. Liston Trophies in 1965 and 1966, proving himself as one of the premier state-league midfielders of his era.
