Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle in the WAFL, Alan Reid arrived at Windy Hill with a glowing reputation, having already represented Western Australia in State of Origin football. A tall, running wingman with electrifying pace and ball-winning ability, he made an immediate impact in his debut 1979 season, finishing second in the Bombers' Brownlow Medal count behind Terry Daniher. However, Reid’s promising VFL career was constantly interrupted by a series of leg and stomach injuries that prevented him from participating in Essendon's finals campaigns of the early 1980s. After managing just a single senior appearance early in 1983, he was cleared to Geelong in a mid-season move, where he added seven games in the Hoops before his time at the elite level came to a close.
