Bio
Recruited from Coburg Districts during the latter stages of the Second World War, Alan Shaw was a rover who briefly featured for Essendon. Despite making four appearances in his debut 1944 season and adding a solitary game the following year, he was unable to cement a permanent place in a Bombers lineup that was building toward a premiership window. Following his departure from Windy Hill, he transferred to the VFA with Brunswick, where he found greater continuity and played 37 games across the 1946 and 1947 seasons.
