Bio
Recruited from Mt Gravatt with pick 22 in the 2006 National Draft, Albert Proud was a highly touted Queensland junior who promised to bring aggression and hardness to the Brisbane Lions' midfield. A physical ball-winner capable of applying immense pressure, he managed to break into the senior side in his debut season but struggled to convert his raw talent into consistent performance at AFL level. His time at the Gabba was marred by repeated off-field disciplinary infractions and personal battles, which prevented him from establishing himself as a fixture in the best 22. Proud's professional career ultimately came to a premature end in 2011 when he was delisted by the Lions after 29 games, leaving the promise of his early draft status unfulfilled.
