Bio
A diminutive local recruit from South Melbourne Districts, Alby Dunn was a talented rover whose VFL career was sandwiched between dominant spells in major regional leagues. Standing just 170cm and weighing a slight 64kg, Dunn initially struggled to cement a regular senior spot at the Lakeside Oval during the early 1960s before heading to the Ovens and Murray League to play for Corowa. He flourished in the bush, winning the prestigious Morris Medal as the league's best and fairest in 1965, a performance that prompted South Melbourne to lure him back for a second stint in 1966. While his final VFL game tally remained modest, Dunn later forged a stellar reputation in Tasmania with Launceston, winning the NTFA’s Hec Smith Medal and representing the island state at the 1969 Adelaide Carnival.
