Stats
Bio
A prolific full-forward at local level, Alby Hodges arrived at Punt Road with a fearsome reputation after booting 96 goals in just 10 games for the Richmond Amateurs. He translated that form to the VFL seconds, topping the Richmond Reserves goalkicking in 1939, but found himself stuck behind club legend Jack Titus in a powerful senior lineup that reached the 1940 Grand Final. After managing only a solitary senior game for the Tigers—ironically against his future club—he crossed to Hawthorn the following season in search of regular opportunities. Hodges added nine games to his tally in the brown and gold in 1941, but his career was effectively curtailed by the Second World War, during which he served in the AIF.
