Teams

Hailing from Merton in northeast Victoria, Alby Kennedy was a country recruit who made a brief but efficient cameo for Essendon during the 1909 VFL season. He debuted in a hard-fought win over Geelong at East Melbourne and returned to the senior side two rounds later for a victory against University, showing promise as a forward option by booting a total of two goals in his two games. Despite maintaining a perfect winning record and a solid scoring strike rate in the black and red, Kennedy’s time at the top level was fleeting, and he did not add to his tally after the Round 7 fixture. He eventually returned to country Victoria, living out his later years in Wangaratta.
