Bio
A local product born and bred in the Pivot City, Alby Palmer served as a reliable defender for Geelong during the club's transitionary phase in the early 1900s. Breaking into the senior side in 1906, he quickly found a niche in the back half, where his 174cm frame was best suited to a role on the flank or in the back pocket. He was a defensive-first operator, registering just a single major across his career while focusing on quelling opposition attacks. Palmer's tenure at Corio Bay was punctuated by a season-long absence in 1908, but he returned to the lineup the following year and remained a consistent selection until his retirement. Though he never played in a premiership, he remained a serviceable contributor for the Pivotonians, notching nearly 50 games of VFL experience before hanging up the boots in 1911.
