Bio
Recruited from the North Melbourne Juniors, Alby Sykes was a mature-age arrival at East Melbourne, making his senior debut for Essendon at 24 years of age. A local North Melbourne product, he was brought in to provide depth to the Bombers' lineup during the 1907 season. Sykes managed four senior appearances and booted a solitary goal during his brief trial at the top level. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the side, his VFL career concluded at the end of the year, marking him as one of the many state-league footballers who earned a fleeting taste of League football before returning to the lower grades.
