A stalwart of the Victorian Football Association, Alby Williams crossed to North Melbourne from Oakleigh to bolster the Shinboners' ranks during the Second World War. With the VFA in recess, the 26-year-old was one of many experienced Association stars to test themselves at League level, providing a robust, ready-made option for North in the 1943 season. Standing 180cm and weighing in at 83kg, Williams offered a solid physical presence across his three senior appearances in the royal blue and white. He eventually departed Arden Street to resume his decorated career at Oakleigh, where he cemented his status as a club centurion.
