Bio
Recruited from Canterbury, Alec Peak initially made his mark in the seconds, creating history as the first St Kilda player to win the Gardiner Medal for the league's best reserves player in 1937. Standing just 166cm, the diminutive rover was rewarded with senior selection the following year, but he found it difficult to translate that dominant lower-grade form into a regular spot in the VFL side, managing just five games before departing at the end of the season. Despite his brief senior playing career, Peak remained a devoted servant of the Saints, eventually returning as a committeeman and selector where he helped identify and recruit the talent that would finally break the club's premiership drought in 1966.
