Bio
A graduate of the Gold Coast Suns Academy, Alex Davies is a tall inside midfielder who famously turned down a potential basketball pathway to pursue Australian rules football. Joining the club via academy concessions, he utilises his 191cm frame and composure in traffic to excel at stoppages, often displaying the clean hands and spatial awareness typical of players with a basketball background. Despite his evident talent as a contested ball-winner, Davies has faced challenges cementing a permanent spot in the Suns' deep midfield rotation, often finding himself on the fringe of the best 22. After attracting rival interest during the 2024 trade period, he recommitted to the Gold Coast, where he continues to develop his aerobic capacity and defensive accountability in a bid to become a mainstay in the senior engine room.
