Bio
A talented dual sportsman from Shepparton, Alex Keath traversed a unique path to the elite level that saw him turn his back on the Gold Coast Suns' initial foundation concession overtures to pursue professional cricket with Victoria and the Melbourne Stars. He eventually switched codes to join Adelaide as a Category B rookie in 2016, where he successfully remodelled himself from a junior swingman into a composed key defender. After a breakout 2019 campaign, Keath requested a trade to the Western Bulldogs, seeking greater security and opportunity in a deal that saw him immediately become the anchor of the Bulldogs' backline.
Throughout his time at Whitten Oval, Keath was characterised by his disciplined lockdown capabilities and strong intercept marking, often tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous key forward. He was instrumental in the club's surge to the 2021 Grand Final, battling through injury to take his place in the premiership decider against Melbourne. As his career progressed, persistent hamstring issues and the arrival of fresh defensive stocks saw his influence wane, resulting in his delisting following the 2024 season after surpassing the 100-game milestone.
