Bio
Born in the Victorian country town of Nathalia, Alex Kennedy was a diminutive footballer who earned his opportunity at the highest level during the player shortages of the First World War. Standing just 169cm, he was built for the role of a rover or forward pocket, relying on agility and ground-level work rather than physical dominance. He made his debut for Fitzroy in the 1917 season, managing to hold his place in the side for nine games that year and kicking a couple of goals. However, his VFL career was short-lived; after adding just a single appearance the following season, he drifted out of the league, leaving behind a brief legacy as one of the many players who filled the breach during a turbulent era for the game.
