Stats
Bio
A seasoned VFA campaigner long before he arrived at the Junction Oval, Alex "Roody" MacKenzie joined St Kilda as a 29-year-old veteran with nearly a decade of senior football behind him. Recruited after substantial stints with Williamstown and North Melbourne in the Association, the diminutive 170cm utility added grit and experience to the Saints' lineup for two seasons, though he managed just the solitary goal in his brief league career. His time on the field was ultimately a precursor to his service in the First World War, where he survived a severe gunshot wound to the chest and back during the fighting at Ypres in 1917 before returning home to Australia.
