Bio
Recruited from Devonport in Tasmania via pick 37 in the 2013 National Draft, Alex Pearce developed into a cornerstone of the Fremantle defence, widely respected for his ability to quell the influence of the league's premier key forwards. While possessing the closing speed and spoiling ability of an elite fullback, Pearce's career was frequently interrupted by severe injury setbacks, including a broken leg that cost him the entire 2017 season and significant ankle issues that limited his continuity in later years.
Despite these physical challenges, Pearce's leadership qualities were evident early in his tenure, eventually leading to his appointment as club captain ahead of the 2023 season following Nat Fyfe. As a key defender, he prioritised lockdown roles over high-possession stats, often serving as the general of the backline who organised the defensive structures around him. His time at the Dockers was defined by resilience, having repeatedly overcome long rehabilitation periods to lead the side as a widely respected veteran.
