Bio
Born Alfred Andrew in Bondi, he adopted the hyphenated surname of his stepfather after his biological father was killed in World War I. A dual-sport talent who initially made his mark with the Collingwood Cricket Club, he progressed through the Magpies' reserves (Districts) to earn a senior call-up in 1933. Standing taller than the typical wingman or half-forward of the era, Andrew-Street was a lithe and agile mover noted for his cool demeanour and strong overhead marking. Despite showing early promise in practice matches, he struggled to cement a spot in the senior side, managing just six appearances across two seasons. His sporting legacy ultimately lay on the cricket pitch, where he captained Collingwood, became a Life Member, and represented Victoria as an opening batsman.
