Bio
Recruited from Port Rovers, Alf Jones arrived at Melbourne as a capable forward who could offer a consistent avenue to goal. He enjoyed a promising debut season in 1908, booting 15 goals in 16 games to establish himself as a regular contributor in the Redlegs' attack during a low-scoring era. However, Jones struggled to replicate that form the following year, managing just three goals from eight appearances throughout the 1909 campaign. Unable to cement a long-term spot in the senior lineup, he departed the VFL midway through 1910 to join Brighton in the VFA, eventually passing away in 1929 at the age of 43.
