Bio
Recruited from Brunswick Amateurs via Melbourne Grammar, Alf King was a handy half-forward who looked set for a solid career at Windy Hill before injury struck. Standing 175cm, he broke into the senior side in 1961 and managed 13 appearances across two seasons, but a severe knee injury sustained in Round 12, 1962 effectively ended his tenure with the Bombers. King attempted to revive his football journey by crossing to Carlton in 1963, yet persistent knee trouble confined him to the reserves and forced his premature retirement. He later remained a well-known figure in Melbourne sporting circles as a leading bookmaker.
