Bio
Alf Lambe occupies a unique spot in the history books as a member of North Melbourne's very first VFL team, bridging the gap between the club's VFA era and its entry into the elite competition in 1925. A grimly determined back pocket, he was tasked with curbing opposition smalls during a brutal initiation period for the Shinboners, where wins were scarce and the defence was constantly under siege. His maiden VFL campaign was unfortunately interrupted by a broken leg, yet he returned to play consistent football as a defensive mainstay at Arden Street until 1928. Following a two-year absence from the league, Lambe resurfaced at the Western Oval with Footscray in 1931, where he brought veteran composure to the Bulldogs' backline for a final two-year stint.
