Bio
A defender possessing elite speed, Alf Tredinnick rejoined the Victorian football ranks in 1901 after a colorful stint in the West. During his time in the Goldfields League, he had played for Kalgoorlie under the assumed name "Alf Hall" to circumvent the strict policies of his employer, the Western Australian Bank, which frowned upon rough contact sports. Upon returning east, he managed seven senior appearances for Melbourne, where his pace was a distinct asset in the backline, though his time at the top level was fleeting. His athletic ability was ultimately best demonstrated on the track rather than the field; just a year after his lone VFL season, he won Australia’s most prestigious footrace, the Stawell Gift, running off a handicap of 11 and a half yards.
